High On Rock Coffee

Get the ultimate farm-to-cup

coffee experience from the highest

mountain in Costa Rica

Why Choose Us?

The Chirripó Mountain, in Costa Rica, with an elevation of 12,500 feet, is High on Rock. At 4,600 feet and above and shaded by bamboo and bananas, we organically micro-farm the highest quality arabica coffee in the country.

We have four pickings every season, where only the ripe berries are picked and cleaned with spring water before entering a natural sun-drying process. The dry, green beans are ready for roasting but also can be stored properly on site and cured, taking on fantastic characteristics for several years.

Like a fine wine, we offer several vintages based upon the picking season. Currently, we are offering the 2018-2019 vintage in three levels of artisan roasts. We also have a two-pack, vintage sample package where you taste the difference of the 2018-2019 vintage alongside the current year's crop: 2021-2022.

We want your feedback and will continue to tweak the aging, curing, and roasting processes and are committed to delivering exactly what you want. We offer the fastest Costa Rica mountain, farm-to-cup service where you can select your roasts and order your beans (whole or ground) now for the next delivery.

BEYOND FAIR TRADE

At High On Rock, we are able to provide help to local residents in many ways:

• A family of 9, who provide the labor for the crop, have all their basic life needs (home, schooling, food, and clothing) met on a continual basis.

• We support a local cooperative that cleans the coffee berries and the sun drying of the beans.

• A local artisan roaster provides the roasting, and packaging of the beans, whole or ground.

Your purchase of our coffees allows these hardworking families to thrive and continue to keep the coffee organic, naturally harvested.

About Us

Evan Radford

Owner, High On Rock Coffee

My name is Evan Radford. In 2002, I became the steward to a mountainside cattle and coffee farm next door to the Chirripó National Park office.

I began reforesting the mountainside with bamboo as I began converting this conventional farm to an organic one. Now partially shaded by giant banana trees above the bamboo, I have been harvesting organic coffee beans for well over a decade.

I believe this coffee is as good as a Costa Rican organic high-altitude, shade-grown, naturally watered by rainfall gets. Many consider this pure, clean, locally roasted coffee a medicine.

Taste for yourself and let me know what you think.
